These grants have been provided by the U.S. Department of Justice (1999 – 2000) and the U. S. Department of Homeland Security (2001 – present) to enable local and state first response agencies to address the identified planning, organization, equipment, training, and exercise needs to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism and other catastrophic events.
